Howdy from S. Texas
Wed Aug 27, 2008 2:48 pm by J Walterhouse
Jim Walterhouse here from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. I have been pastor to the deaf at Baptist Temple of McAllen since the end of February. Prior to that we (wife, Debbie and sons Jonathan and Joshua) were missionaries to the deaf in Mexico for 9 years. Debbie is deaf and I am HOH.

I grew up "hearing" and did not learn sign language until I was in Bible college. After I finished Bible college, we moved to Florida and started two deaf ministries in hearing churches before the Lord called us to Mexico.

Although we now call the Valley home, we still work with the deaf in Mexico. We are helping to start a new church for the deaf across the Rio Grande in Reynosa, Mexico now.

You can check out our web sites at www.Deaf4Christ.org or www.btdeafministry.com.

I am excited about this new forum and look forward to the fellowship and news.

May God bless you all!
